The Federal Supreme Court (BGH) defines the following persons as animal owners:
- people determining power over the animal,
- paying the costs of the animal out of his own interest,
- claiming the general value and benefit of the animal for themselves and
- the risk of its loss.
The animal keeping is independent of the property. If an animal has reached a person, he is the owner if he feeds and accommodates the animal for a longer period of time. This gives rise to a liability which the pet owner must assume for the animal. >> Animals Liability
